A Quote From Alumnae
When I first joined Sigma Kappa, I never imagined it would have as big of an impact on my life as it has. Throughout college, Sigma Kappa gave me amazing friendships, wonderful leadership opportunities and overall happiness. I had the opportunity to plan a successful philanthropy event on campus for the Sigma Kappa Foundation and experience a leadership conference with Sigma Kappa's from all over the country. I made friends who were, and still are there for the good, the bad and even the ugly. Sigma Kappa gave me the opportunity to be a part of two Greek honor societies and participate in countless campus events. It was the times spent eating pizza on the wing and going on adventures with my sisters that I remember most. You can bet I cried the day I became an alumna. Those four years at Duquesne were some of the best days of my life thanks to Sigma Kappa. They always say "It's not four years, but for life." I finally understand what that saying truly means. Many of my sisters have moved away to different cities but the bond still remains the same. They, without a doubt, will be bridesmaids in my wedding some day. Now, as a chapter advisor, I continue to find more each day that I love about the organization. I have been given the opportunity to join an alumnae chapter, attend a Volunteer Development Weekend and connect with volunteers from all over the country. Women from all over come together with the same bond over causes we believe in, shared dedication and the same core values. The organization is much larger that I ever imagined. I love being able to help women overcome some of the same issues I faced as a collegian and watch a chapter grow over time. It's rewarding to volunteer and give back to an organization that has given me so much. I will be forever indebted to Sigma Kappa for my college experience and the years to come.
